Benjamin H. Bristol and Family
This is a picture I came across that might be interesting to the family of Benjamin Hiel Bristol. My Uncle Howard (HHBJr) gave this to me many years ago. This is a picture of Benjamin Hiel Bristol and his wife, Pauline Phelps Bristol. In the back row is William Henry, Franklin Bejamin, Sarah Anna Abigail Bristol Phelps Smith (Wow..) Front row, Bennet Beri, Edgar Hiel. These are 5 of their 6 children. Not present, Bertha Bristol Tracy. Benjamin Hiel had two more wives after Pauline: Mary Russell Bristol and Sara Justine Milligan( of course, not present in this picture!).

Carolyn's photo may be one of the earliest of the family ever taken. It's interesting how some of these names got carried through multiple generations. Since Edgar (born in March 1871) looks to be about 4 or 5 years old and Bertha (born in April 1876) was apparently not born yet, this photo was probably taken in 1875 or early 1876. It's also interesting how much taller Franklin (the first) was than William in the back row, even though Uncle Will was a full year older. Based on the letters that Uncle Will wrote to Sarah when he was away at college (in an earlier post) they seemed to be particularly close.
ReplyDeleteAnother interesting thought: If this photo was taken in 1876, this was what Uncle Will looked like when he kept his "Centennial Diary" uploaded to an earlier post.
